Dragonscales DEMO at Dexcon and Kickstarter

DEXCON 21, I ran 2 games of Dragonscales RGP

My Prep included reading over the PDF, then printing the adventure and putting it in the binder. I then created a cover page for the binder. I then bought a 12 pack of Cards.

I printed the Players sheets
(FANG WARRIOR RANK 2 CHARACTER SHEET) and the introduction

Note: The Joker is the most powerful card in the game, it is a game changer

Game one:
After Card creation, they had there creation cards, and an Idea... then it was off to pick a gate... First I had lions chase them and get turned to dust just to start some excitement.

I loved the Dragon enticing them to come out and play, so I used that. I should have killed a player 20 minutes in but instead took his armor and nearly all his health. He spent the rest of the game trying not to die. They made it into the town and completed most of the quests

WHAT YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO ACCOMPLISH
1 – Get into town
2 – Find out where the marketplace is and what is necessary to open a booth there
3 – Find a place to live
4 – Find a temple to pray in
5 – Explore a possibly dangerous place
Wrap UP
Everyone enjoyed the Mechanics and how the game ran. Most of them were excited and asked about the kickstarter.
I have to say, this was a lot of fun to run. This system offers a lot of flexible encounters which yields to my improve strengths. I am sure I did encounters incorrect or combined some, but the feel of the game was great
---------------------------------------

Game Two:
I was supposed to run another game of mine but did not meet the Minimum player, So I asked them if they would be ok with another game system. They wanted to play so all agreed.. I went grabbed my stuff, came back to the table and asked if they all brought a deck of cards...

After Card creation, they had there creation cards, and an Idea... then it was off to pick a gate... They choose the gate that would not open for them until morning

I loved the Dragon enticing them to come out and play, so I used that once more. The player facing down the dragon pulled the JOKER...

They were not happy with being shanghaied into the Gate Keepers, while the one readily signed his year away, the others needed a bit more persuasion

Then they went to face the Giant... one was killed by the giant and right after that - - a player pulled the JOKER

Next time I am not allowing Jokers - LOL

Wrap up: Again the loved the game and they asked about the kickstarter... I had a great time running the game

-------------------------------------------------- Dragonscales Kickstarter Ok, Everyone knows I am a Dice guy and the only reason I played in this was because of James M. Ward and Stephen Lee....

Let me just say that this is a great setting with so many possibilities. I really do not care for fabricated settings and never played Greyhawk, Dark Sun or any of the AD&D settings, even the Pathfinder Society does not pique my Game Master intuition.

I just prefer my own creations where I am free to create and write and adjust as I see fit.

So, that being said, I found the City of Concord intriguing and the 2 adventures included in the Kickstarter very entertaining.. at least until Mr. Ward Killed me out

So, while at GaryCon, I bought the Apocalyptic version of the setting 77 Lost Worlds box Set. I have done about 5 sessions of the game and will be wrapping up this part of the campaign in our next session, having played through most of the Quests in the Egyptian Dome.

What I have enjoyed about the Quests is they are mostly outlines that allow me to do what I do best, fill it in on the spot and create as a go along

For example.. I wanted to reward them and while searching an area of a waspians Nest, they found a helmet that implanted brain chips... The Tinker was able to operate it and was able to insert a Knowledge chip in one of the players.. So whenever they ran into something in the dome, I could impart what they encountered.. it was limited to the current dome

I played in both Dragonscales games at Garycon and found them to be very well done, this was my first exposure to the Ward Card System as I had not played in any 77 Lost Worlds games

CRIMSON CLIFFS OF CONCORD

This was the first game, I played a Fighter... we decended down the stairs and into the caves...

Blood Red Castle of Doom

I am not sure if I was supposed to have the top part of the information, but I was playing a Templar Knight

Was mostly working out well except we had encountered the first ever TPDD (Total Party Door Death)

So if you are looking for a Fantasy system and want to something different, Back this Kickstarter, it is a great change of pace for any group. I imagine I will be running this in series in between my normal AD&D First Edition
