So, by a chance of fate, I am going to the biggest gaming convention in the world. 60K+ will be attending
This is the first time I am going to a Con and not running any games... I get to travel light for a change, usually I have to bring all sorts of stuff to run games.
I have avoided GenCon because of several things
- The amount of people attending
- Trying to run games would be crazy
- Trying to get into a game with thousands competing for a seat is insane
- Cost of hotels
- Cost of the badge
- Location: Indianapolis
So, since being involved with Envoy and doing board game demos (PAX Unplugged in Philly was my first big event) they put out a call for demo crew at GenCon... giving Rooms and Badges and goodies from the companies...
So my first venture to Gencon will be doing board game demos. I will be with Breaking Games
I requested Breaking games because I love the Sparkle Kitty and Sparkle Kitty Nights Games.
I will be doing demos of Rise of Tribes and Expancity
So, What am I looking forward to:
- Collecting as many Promo cards for games that I can
- Taking lots of Pictures
- Getting lots of new games
- Maybe running a game or 2 off the grid
- Playing an RPG game
- Playing in a few board games
I signed up for one event, that looks amazing...
So, I will most likely get the game through Envoy, but this mug will be pretty cool....
I tend to Eat light when I am at a Con, Usually 1 meal per day and 2-3 Protein bars, This cuts down on food costs by a great amount... I try to spend less than 10-15 on Food and Drink... hoping to find a cheap coffee seller somewhere
So I get to pack light for GenCon
